Introduction

This project at the House of Lords Terrace (Palace of Westminster) was conducted by DBR Conservation. The main objective was to carry out a core drill to assess the building’s foundation. To facilitate this, DBR’s role involved removing the slabs from the upper and lower floors and protecting the mosaics from vibration. The mosaics were cleaned to remove debris, and a facing technique was applied, which involved covering them with overlapping pieces of cotton fabric adhered with wheat starch paste.
